At around 3.30pm today, one of my Indian colleagues came by my seat area to wish my new Indian seat mate (who is barely a week old in the company) a happy birthday. To my surprise I turned to him and said ÔÇÿyou have sat next to me all day and I didnÔÇÖt know itÔÇÖs your
birthday?, he smiled and said ÔÇÿeven me, I forgot itÔÇÖs my birthdayÔÇÖ
How do people forget their birthdays? I canÔÇÖt seem to get it!
According to Wikipedia, birthday is described as follows:
“A birthday is an occasion when a person or institution celebrates the anniversary of their birth. Birthdays are celebrated in numerous cultures, often with a gift or party.
Note the distinction between birthday and birth date: the former occurs each year (e.g. December 18), while the latter is the exact date a person was born (e.g., December 18, 1998).”
I consider birthdays very special. For me, I start counting down to my birthday even months before the day, the specialty and uniqueness of the day cannot possibly make me forget it.
I suppose our interests differ.
But then try not to forget your next birthday.
