I almost saw the President of my country, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan a.k.a GEJ yesterday! Yeah, almost!
My husband and I were in Eko hotel and suites yesterday for a meeting, as we were trying to locate the room for our meeting, I observed some heavy presence of security personnel and body guards around the convention centre of Eko hotel. Usually that part of Eko hotel plays host to top events, but my observation about yesterdayÔÇÖs security detail made me convinced this event was more than the usual big event. As we drove to the car park, I noticed more and more security personnel. So after we parked, we had to locate the room for our meeting, while at that, I saw a roll up banner that had a gigantic picture of President Jonathan, so out of my curiosity I approached one of the security men and asked if the president was within the premises and he nicely told me there was an event for him but he hadnÔÇÖt reached Eko hotel yet but he was on his way and would be there in some minutes or so. Then I fully understood what all the security paraphernalia was about. From the security, to the d├®cor on the hall way, to the banner, to the ushers, to the body guards, it was everything PRESIDENTIAL. The life of a president is good o, hmmm you people now say Uncle Jona should leave Aso Rock, itÔÇÖs not an easy something o.
I really wish I caught a glimpse of him. I havenÔÇÖt seen a president before, I think that was the closest I got to seeing one, I wish I did, perhaps I may have changed my mind about not voting for him :).
As we located our meeting room and settled in, it felt to me like I was sharing the same room with the President even though we were just in the same venue and not the same room. Intermittently, IÔÇÖd just say to myself, comport yourself o, you are in the same venue with the president, you people wonÔÇÖt believe how much that felt. Yeah, call me local, no issues *winks
If I had seen Mr. President eh, you people wouldnÔÇÖt have hear word here yesterday and for the rest of the week sef :).
Take care and have a great day people.
