On Saturday, my family and I had a tour of the newly opened Hospice Halifax @hospicehalifax, a first in Nova Scotia. The hospice had an open house on Saturday.
Hospice Halifax is a compassionate and supportive community of staff members, volunteers, and donors dedicated to making dying and living as comfortable and as meaningful as possible at the end of life.
The team there is great. They heartily welcomed us and one of them, Meagan took us on the tour. She spent about 20 minutes taking us round the facilities of the hospice.
The 10-bed hospice residence is to provide end-of-life care for people living with a terminal illness. The new facility is said to welcome its first patients and families next week. Even though it’s hard to say goodbye to our loved ones with terminal illnesses, but I feel it’s quite consoling and comforting that they would be spending their last days in such warmth, comfort and hospitality. Which is why I feel this place is so amazing and commendable.
Another amazing part is that this hospice is free.
We had a great time, they even had refreshment. I informed them of this page and our website and they said they would check it out. Before we got home, they already started following us on Instagram.
They are having an event tagged ‘Hike for Hospice’, it’s a community walk to support the new hospice residence. It will take place on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 1 pm, see poster for more details. Check our Instagram page for videos of the tour: @LifeinNovaScotia.
Lastly, let us remember that death is inevitable for everyone. Do good as we would mainly be remembered by our deeds and how many lives we impacted.
